A new award for extensions has started. This year, we nominate and vote for the extension with the best documentation. The award takes place in several phases:
Why are so many extensions nominated?
Every nominated extension which met the criteria is in the final list. We could have applied more criteria, e.g. a minimum number of nominations but then the lesser known extensions would have been at a disadavantage.
Why was my extension not nominated?
Maybe, it did not meet the criteria, e.g. TYPO3 v11, Composer, listed on extensions.typo3.org. Maybe it was forgotten. It was a community nomination and a community vote.
Why did you not have a jury?
Being in a jury like this is a very demanding job: If you have a jury, the members must be impartial and they should look at and consider all nominees. They would put in a lot of time and effort and in the end they get the "blame".
Selection via vote seemed like an easier solution and more transparent. Plus, everyone gets to participate. Maybe next time, we will add an additional category and do a jury vote.
I am not happy with the result
The decisions for the selection procedure were made with great care and tried to take everything into account. Please try to get in the spirit and "go with it". Maybe there is something positive in the outcome that you overlooked?
